Perched on the rooftop of Hotel Nacional, MASI offers an exceptional dining experience in the heart of São Conrado, Rio de Janeiro. This restaurant seamlessly blends stunning ocean views with a refined menu that takes inspiration from Japanese and contemporary cuisine, creating a harmonious setting ideal for food lovers seeking elegance and innovation.

The centerpiece of MASI’s culinary offering is its thoughtfully curated menu. Dishes like Ussuzukuri de Salmão and Atum com Crosta de Gergelim highlight the expertise in fresh seafood preparation, showcasing delicate textures and balanced flavors that impress from the first bite. Grilled Polvo served with batata ao murro adds a smoky depth to the meal, while the Guioza de Camarão com Abóbora blends tradition with subtle sweetness. For rice lovers, the risotto stands out as a creamy and satisfying choice, perfectly complementing the lightness of the sashimi selections.

The beverage program at MASI deserves equal mention. Innovative cocktails such as the Nozomi Esperança, combining tequila, aperol, and tropical fruits, or the Tori, with bourbon infused with orange and vermouth, elevate the dining atmosphere while offering a refreshing complement to the fare. Their wine list, featuring standout whites like the Tittarelli Cacheuta Chardonnay from Argentina, pairs elegantly with the dishes, offering bright, fruity notes and balanced acidity that enhance the overall palate experience.

Food was great, atmosphere was amazing but 5 stars solely because of our server Vinci, He was attentive and offered great recommendations as well as some insight on the surrounding area and displayed 5 star hospitality. He was always available for our requests and turned a simple dinner into a lasting experience. If possible, ask for Vinci!

One of the best restaurant I went in my life. Everything was very delicate and well selected. You have a really nice view, a good service and a sommelier if you need help to choose your wine. Could not recommend more.

Masi is a Mediterranean / Japanese fusion restaurant inside the Hotel Nacional in Rio de Janeiro. The restaurant offers a magnificent view of a quieter part of the Rio de Janeiro beach and the concept for the decor is all about cherry blossoms. The restaurant is truly beautiful. We also received excellent customer service from all of the staff, including the bartender who gave us in-depth explanations regarding some of their cocktail offerings. The two cocktails we landed on were the “My/Snake” and the “Ushi/Ox.” My / Snake was sweet and even included a small chocolate piece to top it off. We loved the Ushi/Ox as well, because it was the perfect blend of slightly sweet and a bit of a spicy aftertaste. We loved our drinks so much that we ordered seconds! For appetizers, we ordered Caramelized Shrimp Popcorn and the two varieties of ceviche offered: Ceviche Masi and Pear and Mushroom Ceviche. Both were very fresh and very diverse. The latter, in particular, had a really unique flavor that we had never Experienced before (in the best way possible)! In terms of our main dishes, we opted for the Creamy Octopus Rice with Shrimp and Fettucine With King Crab and Shrimp. Both were creamy and delicious and had very generous portions of seafood. It was my wife’s birthday and she was offered a desert platter on the house which consisted of a delicate coconut panna cotta with fruit sauce. Everything was exquisite, service was excellent and prices were very reasonable!
